Pet Stain and Odor Removal for Vacaville Family Homes

Vacaville sits about 20 minutes east of Fairfield off I-80, between the Travis AFB corridor and the Pleasants Valley hills. The neighborhoods we get the most calls from are Browns Valley, Cheyenne, and the newer builds out near North Village and Alamo Place. These are larger family homes with attached garages, more bedrooms than most Solano cities, and households that usually include a dog or two.

We live next door in Fairfield. We have been cleaning carpets in this part of Solano since 2013, owner Charon Russell behind the wheel of his own truck. The drive from our Suisun Valley shop to most Vacaville zips is under 25 minutes. That matters when a same-day call comes in.

Vacaville is also two different towns weather-wise, and it changes the carpet. The east side down toward the Nut Tree, Leisure Town, and the outlet-mall flats bakes hot and dry all summer, which is good for drying but hard on carpet that pulls in fine valley dust through open doors. The west side up toward Browns Valley and Pleasants Valley Road runs a few degrees cooler with more tree cover and more pollen and yard debris tracked in during spring. We clean the two sides on slightly different assumptions.

What sets Vacaville apart for us is the schedule. Both parents at work, kids at school or daycare, and the pets are home alone in the same rooms for 8 to 10 hours a day. The wear pattern and the odor pattern that creates is specific to this town, and we have figured out how to treat it.

We treat pet contamination in three layers. First we identify the spots with a UV light and a probe meter, because the spot you can see is rarely the whole footprint. Then we apply an enzyme pre-treatment that breaks down the proteins (the part that causes the smell), let it dwell, and extract with hot water at high pressure. For badly contaminated spots we pull the carpet back, treat the pad and the subfloor separately, and replace the pad section if it cannot be saved. That is the difference between covering a smell and removing it.

For the high-traffic lanes we use a counter-rotating brush pass before the wand to lift the matted fibers. The carpet looks different after, not just cleaner. We bring our own truck-mount, so the heat and the vacuum stay constant from the first room to the last.
